Description: ITEM #0183 You are bidding on/buying one (1) U.S. American 1944-d Mercury Dime. Check the pictures, any red you may see is not on the coin. It is just a reflection from the cellophane of the coin holder. This is a nice problem free collectable coin. Despite its tiny size, the "Mercury" dime may very well be the most beautiful coin ever produced by the United States Mint. It is truly remarkable that a coin this small could have such an intricate and aesthetically pleasing design. One thing its design does not depict, however, is Mercury, the messenger of the gods in Roman mythology. The portrait on its obverse is actually that of Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought. Thus, the coin more properly is known as the Winged Head Liberty dime. But the misnomer "Mercury" was applied to it early on and, after many years of common usage, has stuck. There are several different auctions, with one coin being offered in each auction that make up my New Years Special tonight. They are really fun coins, as I believe that the Walking Liberty Halves and Mercury Dimes are some of the most attractive silver coin designs ever minted in the USA. Awhile back I got a chance to sort through a thousand dollar bag of silver coinage the owner was going to sell off as scrap silver. I did not have the money to buy them all or the time to look at the dates so I did a quick sort of the bag and cherry picked the best just looking at condition and left all the slicks and damaged junk behind. This left me with several hundred rescued coins. The majority grading out at very fine with a few a grade or two better and a few a grade worse. The half dollars I am auctioning off for tonight's special are out of that batch. The Mercury Dimes come from my personal collection. The dates and mint marks are varied. Buy one or all... They are all well balanced coins with matching comparable quality on the front and back side, solid, with eye appeal and these pictures accurately show the condition of these coins. Keep in mind that coin grades are mainly opinions, and final grading is in the eye of the beholder... (you the buyer). Be sure to inspect the pictures for yourself before making your bidding or buying decision. The high resolution images shown above are from the specific unique coin being sold, so you can judge and grade for yourself.

Make sure to check my other auctions so you can combine shipping and save money... Bid early, bid often, and good luck.

No Nonsense Policy: The way I see it, both parties to an agreement have responsibilities.
  • I take my responsibility as a vendor very seriously. I expect you to take your responsibility as a buyer seriously.
  • Buyer: You shall read the descriptions and examine the provided images. You shall understand what you are buying or ask questions or not buy it. It is the buyers responsibility to know what he is doing and to understand the stated policies of the seller.
  • Seller: I have the responsibility to describe items offered in such a way that an individual familiar with the type of item can understand. It is my responsibility to list items accurately disclosing any defects not specifically visible in the pictures.
  • Now, if we both take our responsibilities seriously, we shall get along just fine. However, if you think you can buy something from me so you can look at it, then return it, you are sadly mistaken. If you buy an item from me, you own it.
  • On the other hand, if I have described something incorrectly, shipped you an item other that the one shown, or made some other error, then contact me. I am a straight dealing reasonable guy and will work with you to come up with something fair.
  • I want to do business where everybody wins, I want the customer to walk away with a good deal and I want to sell at a point where we make a buck along the way.

  • Shipping Information:
  • For "New Years Special" Items, I offer FREE SHIPPING AND HANDLING.
  • Shipping service will be by US Postal Service, First Class Mail ®.
  • We will only ship to addresses in the United States. Make sure your Paypal address is correct so I can verify the shipping address.
  • We ship within two (2) business days of receiving cleared payment. If you pay fast, I ship fast.
  • Insurance is recommended and is available for an additional $1.75 fee... See above description of "SPECIAL SALE" for details...
  • If you win multiple auctions I will need to ship all items at the same time to the same address.
  • Our shipping charges are reasonable when compared to others and looking at what you get. We take great care in packaging our shipments. We securely packaged in boxes, envelopes, padded mailers, bubble wrap, or other materials as required depending on the item being shipped. Insurance is a good Idea. It really is worth it for buyer and seller as it eliminates most potential headaches and hard feelings that would go along with a package that is lost in the mail. And yes, even with USPS Items do turn up missing more often then one would think. Especially small valuable ones with NO INSURANCE.

  • Payment Instructions:
  • All payments must be denominated in $USD.
  • Payment should be received within 7 days of close of auction. If payment is not received by this time and no contact is made the transaction will be considered null and void.
  • All sales are final. The reason for this is just being practical. With the modestly priced coins I sell, the two way shipping is cost prohibitive, as well as taking into account the volatility of the silver market. I just put the effort in upfront and take detailed high resolution photos and give accurate descriptions of each unique item. My past customers have been 100% happy...
  • Paypal at this time is still accepted. With all the policy changes at eBay/Paypal on a day by day basis... This may change in the future.
  • Major Credit Cards are also accepted (Via Paypal).
  • Make sure the address listed with Paypal or written on your personal check is correct, as I use it to verify the shipping address.

  • Feedback Policy:
  • FEEDBACK IS FOREVER! Email us FIRST if you have a problem!
  • If you are happy with your purchase, please leave feedback. Good communication is the best way to insure a quality transaction so if for any reason you have a problem, please contact me so I can make it right.
  • As a seller I will only leave feedback after I receive feedback from the buyer. This insures that the buyer is satisfied and the transaction is complete. Positive gets positive...
  • I work very hard to earn and expect a positive feedback as part of the transaction. Quality high resolution photos are taken and uploaded, items are examined for defects or problem areas, quality packaging, and insurance is provided to make sure your little treasure actually gets to you. Having done everything I could think of to make sure there are no surprises for the buyer, I hope you will bid with confidence.
