Description: ITEM #0215 You are bidding on one (1) U.S. American 1944-d Mercury Silver Dime. This is a great circulated coin with plenty of eye appeal. It shows a little honest wear, but is of a collectable grade. See the detail on the reeds and bands on the back side, look at the photos and judge for yourself. This is an attractive solid problem free collectable coin. Despite its tiny size, the "Mercury" dime may very well be the most beautiful coin ever produced by the United States Mint. It is truly remarkable that a coin this small could have such an intricate and aesthetically pleasing design. One thing its design does not depict, however, is Mercury, the messenger of the gods in Roman mythology. The portrait on its obverse is actually that of Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought. Thus, the coin more properly is known as the Winged Head Liberty dime. But the misnomer "Mercury" was applied to it early on and, after many years of common usage, has stuck. Right out of my personal collection to yours, with matching quality on the front and back side, don't miss out. Feel free to contact me before bidding if you have any questions about this coin. Good luck. Keep in mind that coin grades are mainly opinions, and final grading is in the eye of the beholder... (you the buyer). Be sure to inspect the pictures for yourself before making your bidding or buying decision. The high resolution images shown above show the specific unique coin being sold, so you can judge and grade for yourself.

American silver is great to collect if you love them as I do, and also a very good way to put some silver away for investment purposes. They make great gifts for the grand kids, or just to have a few in your top desk drawer to look at now and then to remember what real money looks and feels like.

NOTE: Photos on this coin, like all my photos, are high resolution enlarged pictures that give you a view of what you would see with a magnifying loop. So any nicks or bag marks are exaggerated over what the naked eye can see. Virtually all coins have imperfections of one sort or another. Even mint state gem quality coins that have never been touched by human hands have imperfections due to debris in the minting dies, the process of being fed down conveyor belts and dropped into sacks along with all the other coins, and the subsequent handling of those sacks etc... That is why there are no two coins exactly alike, and it is what gives each coin its unique character. On rare collectable coins it is just a matter of exactly where the damage is and its extent or in the case of circulated coins the amount of wear that determines the grade. In the end it all boils down to eye appeal and personal preference. I post magnified high resolution photos that actually make the coin look worse than it appears to the naked eye, because it is the honest thing to do. And I really want happy customers. To view the coin as it would look to you without magnification most current browsers (Windows Internet Explorer) allow you to adjust the zoom level either by using the tab on the extreme lower right (It says 100%) of the browsing window or if you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, just hold the CTRL key down and spin the wheel. So for a silver dollar adjust the size so it is about one and a half inches across to see it in actual size.

No Nonsense Policy: The way I see it, both parties to an agreement have responsibilities.
  • I take my responsibility as a vendor very seriously. I expect you to take your responsibility as a buyer seriously.
  • Buyer: You shall read the descriptions and examine the provided images. You shall understand what you are buying or ask questions or not buy it. It is the buyers responsibility to know what he is doing and to understand the stated policies of the seller.
  • Seller: I have the responsibility to describe items offered in such a way that an individual familiar with the type of item can understand. It is my responsibility to list items accurately disclosing any defects not specifically visible in the pictures.
  • Now, if we both take our responsibilities seriously, we shall get along just fine. However, if you think you can buy something from me so you can look at it, then return it, you are sadly mistaken. If you buy an item from me, you own it.
  • On the other hand, if I have described something incorrectly, shipped you an item other that the one shown, or made some other error, then contact me. I am a straight dealing reasonable guy and will work with you to come up with something fair.
  • I want to do business where everybody wins, I want the customer to walk away with a good deal and I want to sell at a point where we make a buck along the way.

I just put the effort in upfront and take detailed high resolution photos and give accurate descriptions of each unique item. My past customers have been 100% happy...
  • Paypal at this time is still accepted. With all the policy changes at eBay/Paypal on a day by day basis... This may change in the future.
  • Major Credit Cards are also accepted (Via Paypal).
  • Make sure the address listed with Paypal or written on your personal check is correct, as I use it to verify the shipping address.

  • As a seller I will only leave feedback after I receive feedback from the buyer. This insures that the buyer is satisfied and the transaction is complete. Positive gets positive...
  • I work very hard to earn and expect a positive feedback as part of the transaction. Quality high resolution photos are taken and uploaded, items are examined for defects or problem areas, quality packaging, and make every effort to see that your little treasure gets to you. Having done everything I could think of to make sure there are no surprises for the buyer, I hope you will bid with confidence.
